Sustainathon: Building a Greener Future
Join us for an exciting in-person hackathon on 25 th Nov at Alliance Manchester Business School.
Get ready to collaborate, innovate, and challenge the status quo. At our very first Sustainathon, we'll bring together students from various disciplines to generate ideas and develop innovative solutions for a more sustainable future. The event is open to all The University of Manchester students from undergraduate to PhD, and also recent graduates in the last two years. During the hackathon, you'll have the opportunity to work in teams of 3-5 students.
As sustainability and social responsibility are at the heart of this Hackathon, we want you to focus on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, creating ideas around topics such as
- Improving Cities
- Energy
- Agri-food
- Sustainable Consumption
- Sustainable Production
- And anything else that is relevant to planetary sustainability and improvement.

The event is part of the Sustainathon challenge in collaboration with Deshpande Startups (India). If your team is one of the top three at this first Hackathon, you will be invited to an excluive support programme and exciting activities as you work towards representing The University of Manchester as the top team from the UK in February 2024. The winning team from The University of Manchester will then go on to compete with the winning team from India in early May. They will also get to visit India on a 10 day Global exchange and immersion programme in early summer. More details about the Sustainathon challenge can be found here.
