Microlearning Accessibility Statement

This course is designed to be accessible for everyone. We believe that everybody benefits from accessibility.

We can often think of accessibility as providing assistance to people with permanent disabilities. However, accessibility also includes people with temporary access needs, like screen glare, a noisy environment, or temporary injuries.

Access needs can be defined as belonging to four categories. Click each one to see how we’ve addressed these:

Vision

  • The software we’ve used to build this course supports screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, Chromevox and Voiceover.
  • Images are accompanied with alt text
  • We’ve ensured that the colour contrast makes the writing readable

Hearing

  • The only audio in this course is the ambient music in Module 2, which is decorative and doesn’t require a transcript.

Motor

  • The software that we’ve used to build this course is by default entirely operable by the keyboard. Everything can be navigated or accessed by the tab and arrow keys, as well as the enter key.
  • The modules can all be accessed across devices at differing orientations.

Cognitive

  • We’ve made our alt text visible to describe emotions for neurodivergent people
  • There is a glitch effect on Module 3 which you will have the option to skip

If any element doesn’t work as expected, get in touch with entrepreneurship@manchester.ac.uk
