Programmes for Researchers

MCEL60091/2 Innovation and Commercialisation of Research (ICR)
A 10-week accredited programme for 3rd and 4th year PhD students to apply entrepreneurial thinking to develop a commercialisation idea based on their own research area, gaining skills and confidence to transfer research knowledge to the market.
This programme examines various aspects of commercialisation of research. Students evaluate their business opportunity, developing a commercial business case, and prepare a 5-minute pitch and business proposal canvas. The programme includes lectures, study group tutorial sessions and follow-on sessions supporting those wishing to take their idea forward.
Delivery: In person and online

Researcher to Innovator (R2I) Programme
This bespoke programme is designed for final-year PhD students, PDRAs and early-career researchers who have an interest in creating impact through commercialisation. Delivered by research and innovation experts, the programme runs twice a year.
The programme includes a series of interactive personal and professional development sessions which introduce the concept of commercialisation, equipping researchers with strategies to take ideas forward and discover new pathways to funding.

An insight into Network Intelligence - guides aspiring researchers, entrepreneurs and innovators through a structured process during which they build their ecosystem and learn to utilise their networks more effectively. (Online and in-person)
